Lauren Meehan is a nurse in the cardiovascular unit of Rose Medical Center, so when it was time for her to give birth, she went back to her own hospital’s labour and delivery unit.

Lauren and her husband Chris were expecting twin girls in early October and went to the hospital to prepare for the birth. While their and getting settled, one of the nurses in the room asked if they had their baby names picked out already.

After stating that they liked the names Emma and Julia, there was silence followed by giggling in the room.

This was probably not the reaction the soon-to-be parents were expecting but they soon found out the reason for this strange response. The two nurses who would be caring for the babies once they were born were also named Emma and Julia.

It was a no brainer which nurse would be taking care of which baby and soon everyone was looking forward to meeting the twins.

The babies were born on October 5th and were instantly loved by everyone in the room, doctors, nurses, their parents, and their older brother. Now a few weeks old, the twins are home with their family and being taken amazing care of.

The family keeps in touch with the delivery nurses still and the whole group can’t wait to tell the kids, when their old enough, about their unique situation.

Following suit even closer, baby Emma was born shortly before her sister Julia and, for the nurses, Emma is slightly older than her co-worker. While Julia is not as popular a name as it once was coming in at number 114 in 2021, Emma has been holding strong for the last few years at number 2.

The name Emma means “universal”, “whole”, or “complete” whereas Julia means “youthful”, “beautiful princess”, and “rose”.

Lauren said the experience of giving birth at Rose Medical Center was “phenomenal”. She also had her son at the hospital and went back for her twins because “It was Rose nurses taking care of a Rose nurse because I know they’re a good group. I felt comfortable and trusted them to take care of me.”

Though Lauren and her nurses, Emma and Julia, worked in different departments of the medical center and therefore didn’t know each other, she still trusted their skills and professionalism with her daughters.

They may not have known each other before, but it is almost a certainty that, when Lauren decides to go back to work after her maternity leave, the three women will make it a point to visit each other. It was truly miraculous that these two nurses got these two babies, hopefully all four of them, six including the parents, continue to be blessed with only good and positive things going forward.
