When 8-year-old Nash realized that he didn’t have enough money to buy an X-box and that it would take long to earn enough money by doing chores, he came up with a different plan.

The elementary school boy decided to apply for a job so that he could earn money and buy the X-box he so badly wanted.

All of his friends play on their X-box, and he really wanted to join them, so when he took a look at his “Spend jar” he realized it would take quite some time to raise enough money.

So, he went online and looked for easy jobs around his neighborhood.

One of the “easiest” that he found was that of a dishwasher at the local Drake’s in Lexington, Kentucky.

“That was the easiest job I knew. Also, I’m very good at washing dishes,” Nash told WRAL.

So, he applied for the job, and, although one needs to be at least 16 years old to be hired at Drake’s, the little boy managed to find a loophole in the application so that he didn’t have to reply to the age question.

You see, in the application, he didn’t have to fill in his exact age or his date of birth, but just an “age range”, so the boy wrote he’s “under 18”, which is true and at the same time it doesn’t make it clear whether he’s over or under 16.

Of course, he did all that without his mother knowing, but the woman was not surprised at all when she found out.

“That kid is not afraid to fail. He is a go-getter,” Belinda Johnson, Nash’s mother, said. “Financial literacy is really important in our household.”

Indeed, it seems that Nash already knows that if he really wants something, he needs to work hard to get it. And he was willing to do so, only his age kept him back.

The owner of the local Drake’s might not have hired the smart boy, but he invited him to orientation. During that event, Nash was surprised when he was given the X-box he wanted.

As the young boy admitted, he was “shocked”. But still, although he was excited to now have an X-box, he was in a way disappointed because he didn’t get the job.

“I wish I had the job and the Xbox,” he said.

It’s impressive how determined this little guy is, and how he knows that he needs to earn things in life. He needs to work in order to be able to get what he wants.

“Don’t be afraid to jump out there and go for it. Go get it,” Belinda Johnson said. “You want something, get it.”

This is the mindset young kids should have. Don’t be afraid of failing. Just do what you’ve got to do and you’ll achieve your goals.
